The 6 Teen Sleep Commandments and High School start times, Matt’s Crocs, preventing eczema, Jon Stewart, and rude doctors and parents,
In this episode, we wrap up (for now) our discussion of sleep by covering some topics on many a parent’s Top Ten Frustration list: the sleep pattern of teenagers. Are they really that tired? What is it that is different about teens? Before we delve into that mystery, we discuss two recent studies, one of which may make parents want to be a bit nicer to their child’s doctor, and another which may encourage their babies good and greasy! REM, tonsillectomies, , along with ……(what for it)…….. the Delaware Pause. Join us !

Really enjoying these podcasts so far! Thank you both for your passion for what you do. It is so very important and makes such a difference in the lives of children and their parents!
Two additional thoughts about sleep:
1. We use an internet filter that sets a bedtime on whichever devices we choose. Devices become unusable and the only way to cancel the bedtime is to know the password on the filter. It maybe even better than unplugging a router in case there are any sneaky teens who try to plug it back in in the middle of the night.?
2. In our house, we have also found that keeping bedrooms pitch black during night is helpful. No nightlights. Keep those pineal glands from getting confused.? And then I make sure to be very annoying and go into my kids’ rooms in the morning and rip open the drapes and blinds.?
Both excellent! I do think that teens end up bypassing whatever tech roadblocks parents put up so if trust and then filters are not enough, I still remind them about unplugging the hardware (and taking it to bed with them!)
